summer 25 July 4-5 Phish

Friday, July 4 - flew to Denver, CO from Reagan National in Washington DC. The pilot was routed around to the west side, I loved seeing the snow on the mountains. Arrived at 3:00pm MT and D picked me up. We went back to the house in Broomfield, visited for a while, ordered some takeout sandwiches, and A, D, and me drove to Folsom Field, University of Colorado, Boulder to see Phish live in concert. Once we found a spot to park we got out of the car and there was a live band playing across the street in someone's back yard, perfect spot! Sidenote, I learned that for recycling purposes it's best not to crush aluminum cans.

The show reminded me that Phish continues to be the best live entertainment in America. First set was upbeat, entertaining, and fun. First set highlights were Bathtub, Oblivion, Timber, and Most Events Aren't Planned. Second set was a Fourth of July faceplant into rock.  It was a big fat rock and roll highlight in totality.

Saturday, July 5 - family time in the morning then O went to play a tennis tournament in Colorado Springs D and I visited, walked to dog, and went to a Scott's house to say hello. We rode the city bus to Boulder, walked downtown, found a nice sushi place, and then headed back to Folsom Field. There was a brief rain delay, but no rain at the stadium. We had amazing seats in section 106 row 6.

This concert was more wandering and dreamy than July 4th, very different. The fourth was such a rocker. The fifth flowed through the Phish experience from all the angles. Old Phish, new Phish, evil Phish, all the Phish. The first set was a great Phish compilation from start to finish. My Friend was a standout second set highlight and the segues into Crosseyed and Everything's Right were glorious. It's also a great joy to be in a huge stadium and hear the message of More being sung by all...

But I'm vibrating with love and light
I'm pulsating with love and light
In a world gone mad
A world gone mad
There must be something more than this
I'm vibrating with love and light
Pulsating with love and light
In a world gone mad
A world gone mad
There must be something more than this
