Sunday, July 6 - Chicago White Sox at Colorado Rockies. We arrived in the middle of the fifth inning and the Rockies were down 2-4. We headed straight to the standing room only area behind home plate. The Rockies had a single, home run, another single, walk, stolen base, and then a triple down the right field line to take the lead 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth!
We watched all of that from the standing room behind home plate then moved to some incredible seats in section 135 (pictured at the top). They held on for the win, final score Rockies 6 White Sox 4. Following the game we walked around the Denver RiNo neighborhood and grabbed some cocktails at the Death & Co Lounge in the Ramble Hotel.
Monday, July 7 - O and I hung out on Monday. I took him to play disc golf for the first time. He was totally into it. We ended up playing 27 holes. Later that evening we played tennis. I got him last summer, but I had a feeling he'd get me this time. I won the first set 6-4. I got up 4-1 in the second set and he started playing better and I started getting tired. He came back and won the second set 7-5. I was too tired for a third set so we played a ten point tiebreaker and he got me 10-4. He's hitting the ball well and playing often. He was in a tournament last weekend and will be in another next weekend. What a day, I was exhausted!
Tuesday, July 8 - A, M, Roxi, and I went for a hike up above the flatirons on Flagstaff Mountain, Boulder, Colorado. The Tenderfoot trail winded along at a high elevation up to a vast view of the Continental Divide. We returned back to the trail head on a great, more forested trail called Chapman Drive. We saw so many Ponderosa Pines (M’s favorite tree) tons of lovely wildflowers, and a few blooming cacti. We went to a Bodos style bagel shop called Moe’s for lunch.
D, A, and I enjoyed a good chat on Tuesday afternoon then D, M, O and I went out to dinner and for ice cream in nearby historic Louisville, CO. They have a nice downtown area with a lot of character.
Thursday, July 10 started with an adventure. TG and G took kayaks out on the Rivanna River yesterday and had to abandon them because of a major thunderstorm that lasted for hours. They wisely determined it was unsafe to continue on the river so they stopped and tied the boats to a tree. Then they climbed up the bank in the pouring rain and impressively navigated through the woods to a house. The house was not visible from the river - I can't believe they found it while trail blazing through the woods in a downpour. Thankfully the people at the house were kind. TG's mom picked them up there. I went back the house with the boys and TG's mom this morning to see if the boats were still tied off on the bank. The house was more than a mile off a back road down a one lane gravel drive. We weren't entirely confident the boats would still be there because they used an old dry-rotted rope and the river swelled from 3.5 feet to 7 feet overnight. We trudged back through the woods trying to follow the path they took yesterday. Believe it or not the boats were still secure and the boys paddled the muddy river to a safe take-out!

Wednesday, July 9 was a travel day. I grabbed a bus in Boulder to the Denver airport, flew back to Washington DC, then drove home.
This was a great trip. I had a ball! Of course I missed getting to see J (she was in Tennessee), but it was super nice to get to have so much quality time with everyone else. D has shared a lot of free time with me this year with our Christmas 2024 visit, New Years in New York City and this visit. I'm so grateful for that time. It's been a minute since we've hung out so much in a mere six months.
