Friday, June 27 - The Southern Belles at Friday's After Five, Charlottesville Pavilion. The Southern Belles are a Richmond rock and roll band. Fantastic concert!

Saturday, June 28 - H, G and me played nine holes of golf at Lake Monticello then dinner at the Bistro.
Sunday, June 29 - H and I went to St. Paul's. The service opened with a prayer for the University of Virginia after the unexpected resignation of President, Jim Ryan. News reports indicate that he was pressured to resign by the United States Department of Justice due to allegations of noncompliance with the federal administration's requirement to end initiatives promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. Ryan stated that if he stayed researchers may lose funding and students may lose visas. More from npr.
The service continued and was meaningful. I appreciated the reading and sermon on 2 Kings chapter 2 about Elijah and Elisha. I found myself in a thin place. I was reminded that school is my ministry. I also noticed a sign in the parish hall that said, "ponder anew what the Almighty can do."

Communion Hymn I have Decided to Follow Jesus
H and I went paddling on the lake later in the afternoon, then watched US soccer. It was a wonderful day.
This weekend I also learned about New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. This brings some interesting views to the national landscape during a time of political uncertainty.
