Donna the Buffalo

Donna the Buffalo, March 8, 2025 @ The Jefferson Theater, Charlottesville, Virginia
The Weathers came to town for a birthday celebration weekend and a Donna the Buffalo concert. We had a great visit on Friday. The concert was outstanding. Tara and Jeb's songs have a way of lifting my spirit, bringing a unique joy, and tapping that zydeco button in a perfect way.  Ric Robertson on bass was an unexpected treat. I knew he was going to be the opening act, but didn't know he had joined the band as well. That guy is wildly musical. I love his Carolina Child album from 2021 and it turns out he's good friends with all the Old School Freight Train guys.
The rest of the story...

Things turned out a bit more eventful than expected. Mom and our  oldest were in the emergency department because the boy had severe abdominal pain during his soccer game. I was so sad that mom had to miss the concert, but she wasn't leaving her son. I came in to relieve her early on Sunday morning.  It took three days in the hospital, all kinds of tests, worry, and pain meds to get him straight. Dude has to miss the first three weeks of the varsity soccer season, but he's on the mend. Some cool news is that he was selected for the Virginia State ODP regional team this week!

We also had to say goodbye to Cannon Ball on March 12, 2025. The next post will be a memorial.
