Sturgill Simpson and other new Kentucky musicians

This Live for Live Music story caught my attention. Sturgill's talent is unmistakable. The article leans on the next Bob Wier venture, but also shares some good insight on Sturgill's recent history.

I am inspired by the recent boom of artists from Kentucky. I was born and raised in Ashland.  Sturgill was born two weeks before me about 95 miles southwest in Jackson. Tyler Childers showed up on our planet 12 years 364 days after me (we're only one day from sharing a birthday). Tyler hails from Lawrence County, about 40 miles south of Ashland.  Then there's Cole Chaney, a young Ashland native who's making a bit of a splash. Another currently popular guy, Chris Stapleton, hails from Lexington.  In addition I want to give a shout out to S.G. Goodman, Carley Pearce, Jordan Lee King, Brit Taylor, Abby Hamilton, Cody Lee Meece, Nick Jamerson, and Nat Myers. These artists are worth checking out and there are many others I've yet to learn about. Here's to the current state of Commonwealth musicians!  The history goes on much deeper, as outlined in Wikipedia.
